Greetings All,
Please join us for OCEANS 2019 Seattle, from October 27th to 31st. Seattle is one of the few places where academia, industry, federal agencies, and the U.S. Navy are present and work in harness to advance ocean science and technology. Our program and exhibits aim to get you thinking about “Blue Sky – Blue Sea – Blue Tech” in new and different ways. Toward that end, we are making some changes to improve your OCEANS conference experience, starting with technical presentations on Monday morning, offering a general poster session, fostering a more visible Student Poster Competition, and hosting a Tuesday evening Town Hall with local food and drinks to go with thought-provoking speakers. The meeting wraps up on Thursday with tutorials and workshops that enable you to take a deep dive into the nitty-gritty of new techniques and processes.
The Washington State Convention Center and brand-new Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Seattle offer first-rate venues for our activities, which include a full technical program and a hall filled with exhibitors from around the world. You can relax and meet others during a number of social events, including the pre-conference Icebreaker Reception on Sunday evening, an Exhibitor’s Reception on Monday evening, and the inimitable OCEANS Gala at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop) – one of Seattle’s iconic attractions – on Wednesday evening. There will also be additional events specifically for the Student and Young Professional attendees.
Please make plans to join us in Seattle this coming October. And please consider coming early or staying late to take advantage of the unparalleled opportunities this region has to offer for business, pleasure, or a mix of both.
On behalf of the entire OCEANS 2019 Seattle Local Organizing Committee, I look forward to meeting you here!
Warmly,
Dr. Fritz Stahr
